The Travelopia Events Division is part of the Travelopia Group, a KKR owned company. The division is based in modern offices in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire and contains Gullivers Sports Travel – a 45-year-old brand focussed on delivering sports travel experiences to major sporting events worldwide and Events International – another long established business which is a market leader in hospitality at sporting events.

The role

As Travelopia Events Division FD you will lead the finance function for the division and provide strategic analysis and insight, consolidated forecasting, planning and reporting of financial performance for the Division’s senior leadership team (SLT) and the Travelopia Group finance team.

What you will be doing

  • Partnering with the Events Division Managing Director and other SLT members to drive the financial performance of the Events Division
  • Taking leadership of the finance team, and the Business Partner for Commercial
  • Driving the strategic planning & budgeting processes across Events, for both the 3-year strategy and the annual budget, outlining the initiatives that underpin it and the core dependencies
  • Delivering consolidated monthly P&L and cash reporting; fully understand the trading/P&L performance drivers across the Events Division and challenge the risks and opportunities to delivering the budget. Working with the SLT to maximise performance and result delivery through business efficiency optimisation and opportunity development and mitigating of any trading risks
  • Delivering weekly KPI information to the SLT and to Travelopia Group finance team
  • Delivering weekly cashflow forecasting to Travelopia Group finance team
  • Leading the development of cash delivery performance across the division through enhanced working capital and other cash flow management
  • Leading the monthly reforecasting, working with the Events Division management team to ensure the key assumptions are clear to underpin the numbers
  • Leading on development of monthly Business Review Meeting presentations (BRM) with financial and commercial insight and communicating clearly the division’s performance to the Group CEO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT)
  • Owning the division’s Risk Register and financial control environment, ensuring key business risks are being managed and that financial controls are robust
  • Ensuring the year end external audits are completed successfully and that statutory accounts are completed and submitted to regulators and other stakeholders within set deadlines
  • Ensuring all regulatory returns are completed and submitted within set deadlines
  • Maintaining and enhancing a strong cash culture and ensuring every cash opportunity is maximised and risks are mitigated
  • Leading any finance system transformation programme supported by appropriate processes and organisational structure

What we are looking for

  • Experienced finance professional (Qualified accountant - CIMA, ACA or ACCA) with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in industry / commerce, ideally from a Private Equity environment where cash management is critical in addition to Revenue and EBITDA maximisation
  • Business partnering & strategic skills – ability to challenge and influence at the most senior levels, proactive and supportive but also constructively challenging
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to see the bigger picture
  • Able to build relationships across all levels of the organisation, supporting and challenging peers and the team
  • Good understanding of the Tour Operating business model and market, or experience within the travel industry - desirable
  • Experience of risk management and implementation of robust financial controls and compliance
  • Strong leadership and development of both direct team and matrix
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and ensure deadlines are met
  • Strong communicator with confidence and gravitas to communicate to board level
