Sustainability Executive

We are excited to be recruiting for a new Sustainability Executive to join our passionate, collaborative and purpose-driven team at Exodus Travels and its sister brands in the Adventure Division of Travelopia. The Adventure Division constitutes the Exodus Travels, Exodus Edits, Headwater Holidays and Sawadee brands. We are united by our purpose, “to improve life through travel”, and we live and breathe our values:

  • Bring happiness
  • Take responsibility
  • Be ambitious
  • Always passionate

Exodus Travels in particular has built firm and far-reaching foundations in responsible tourism during its almost 50 years of existence. Over the last two years, this ethos has been further embedded and expanded through the establishment of a comprehensive sustainability strategy (our People, Places and Planet plan) and the launch of the Exodus Travels Foundation. We are now in the process of setting ambitious sustainability goals for the Adventure Division for the 3 years ahead, as well as working closely with the wider Travelopia group on developing and implementing a robust and forward-thinking sustainability plan and related activity.

As our sustainability goals continue to be further integrated into our core business strategy and practice, we want to expand our capacity in this area, and seek a driven, committed Sustainability Executive to support and accelerate the implementation of our sustainability activity across the Adventure Division, and across Travelopia more widely.

To ensure inclusivity and to mitigate against unconscious bias all candidate personal information will be removed for the initial selection process of this role.

What you'll be doing:

As our Sustainability Executive, you will report to the Adventure Division’s Head of Sustainability and Community, working closely with her in a support capacity on some projects and workstreams, while leading some others yourself. These will include:

Exodus Travels Foundation - Supporting the management, administration, and activity of the Foundation:

  • Grant-making management: Keeping record of grant giving, Creating/ managing paperwork for new projects, project progress and impact monitoring and measurement
  • Project management: Managing the application process and implementation of some of our multi-country Exodus Travels Foundation projects, such as the Inspiration Project.
  • Fundraising management: Keeping donation records up to date, supporting the build of a new CRM system, devising and managing a donor stewardship process, setting up and managing appeals/ fundraising challenges

Communications and engagement - Working in conjunction with our Marketing team to source and provide content to further engage and involve all our stakeholders in our sustainability work:

  • Sourcing and managing content from Foundation and corporate sustainability initiatives.
  • Drafting content for sustainability related web pages, blogs, emails and social posts.
  • Supporting or leading wider staff engagement initiatives, such as staff volunteering.
  • Monitoring and addressing sustainability related client feedback and/or queries.
  • Growing our Foundation supporter base and fundraising potential.
  • Supporting creation and delivery of sustainability and Foundation reports.

Environmental management - Helping us achieve best practice in reducing the environmental impacts of our office (and home working):

  • Leading the environmental management of our office spaces, primarily including carbon measurement and reduction, and waste measurement and reduction.
  • Engaging and educating staff on reducing the impact of their home working spaces.
  • Supporting other companies across the group in implementation of similar environmental management initiatives.

You will also have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of other initiatives and workstreams related to our sustainability and EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion) strategies – primarily in a support capacity at first, but with the potential to lead distinct projects more autonomously as your remit develops.

What we're looking for:

  • A passion for purpose-driven business and corporate sustainability.
  • An enthusiastic, proactive, adaptable attitude and a willingness to learn ‘on the go’; someone who will thrive in dynamic environments where priorities rapidly change.
  • A generalist rather than a specialist; someone who will enjoy implementing and expanding a broad skillset across a truly diverse remit.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with an organised, well-structured, reliable approach to managing and prioritizing projects and tasks.
  • At least two years’ working experience, with sound experience of office-based working protocols, processes, and software.
  • A relational team player; someone who is energised by engaging and collaborating with a range of different people and teams on a frequent basis.
  • Excellent verbal, written and literacy skills, and good numeracy skills and data interpretation.
  • Ideally some experience developing content and/or engaging different audiences.

If this role matches your career goals, skills and experience... please apply today. We look forward to hearing from you.
