This role sits within the Ecommerce Development team and reports to the Lead Developer. The marketing department covers Ecommerce, Marketing, Creative & Analytics and is devoted to creating exceptional experiences for our customers through great content, amazing user journeys and impactful multichannel marketing activity. Customer insight and performance results drive our thinking, ensuring everything we do is engaging & effective, timely & targeted and most of all customer-led. 

Our Development team are based remotely, so we are ideally looking for someone that is comfortable home working and happy to make visits to our head office in Surbiton, Surrey when required.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Working within a team of several developers, attending regular meetings to agree on development approach on tickets/required tasks
  • Working closely with the rest of the Ecommerce team to understand development requirements and priorities
  • Be a key player in the project to upgrade current sites from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8+
  • Designing and implementing new features and functionality
  • Providing input into the website’s architecture ensuring high performance and availability
  • Creating and maintaining quality documentation

What we are looking for

Essential skills required:

  • 3+yrs working in a team environment with relevant technologies
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English
  • Comfortable as a full stack developer
  • Comfortable with programming PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML and CSS
  • Comfortable with object-oriented programming (OOP)
  • Comfortable with creating and/or maintaining custom modules and themes in Drupal 8+
  • Comfortable with version control (Git and GitHub)
  • Comfortable with the Mac OS environment
  • Experience with the Drupal community, coding standards and principles
  • Experience with drush
  • Experience with Composer
  • Experience with Bootstrap
  • Knowledge of MySQL database queries

Desirable Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience within Travel or similar industry such as retail or luxury goods
  • Experience with Drupal 7 is advantageous
  • Experience with React
  • Experience with SASS/SCSS compilation
  • Experience with Vagrant, Docker/Lando, DDEV or equivalent
  • Experience with Jira or equivalent issue tracking system
  • Experience of working with APIs
  • Knowledge of Varnish Cache
  • Knowledge of xdebug
  • Knowledge of Drupal 7 to Drupal 8+ migration
